Tamil Recipes Vengaya (Onion) Uthappam is basically a medu/soft dosai preparation with onions and few green chilies spread on top.

It is very tasty and spicy to eat with sambar or chutney or just like that. Common hotel preparation in south India for Tamil samayal and cooking.

Ingredients

  • Dosai Batter 2 cup
  • Onions 4 medium finely chopped
  • Green Chili 3 medium broken pieces
  • Ginger Finely minced 5 pieces
  • cilantro Few leaves
  • Oil 1 Tbsp for each(for about 8 Dosas)
  • Salt 1 Tbsp or to taste


Method

  1. Mix dosa batter well
  2. WIpe the surface of the frying pan with oil and pour one laddle
  3. Just spread with the back of the laddle slighlty not too much like murugal dosai, needs to be fluffy and thick
  4. NOw add the chopped onion, minced ginger & chili. Pour few drops of oil on thesides. When it turns brown on the sides it is almost ready to be taken out
  5. Turn the heat off and let it sit for a few seconds and take it out
  6. Serve hot with sambar, chutney or any sides you like
